Basement Fires Training
May 15, 2010
Firefighters from Hellam, Wrightsville, and a few other local departments joined at the York County Fire School for a live burn involving basement fires.  Last Wednesday was the classroom session, which was held at the Hellam Fire Company.  Personnel were split into six teams and made a total of nine evolutions.  Skill areas utilized included hose line management, search, and rescue, and fire attack below ground level.  Engine 21 had the attack function while Rescue 41-1 had the RIT function.  Thanks to the instructors and coordinators who made this class possible.  A special thanks to Troy and Renee Snider who staffed Ambulance 41-2 as a rehab unit and the crew from station 35 who staffed Air 35..
